Rekryteringsgruppen - the international work

Rekryteringsgruppen Active Rehabilitation (RG) is a non-profit organization. We motivate people with disabilities, especially people with spinal cord injuries, to lead an active and independent life. We motivate people through sports and we also use successful people with spinal cord injuries as role-models.

In the international work we help and support other countries to start similar organizations. The aim is to share our knowledge and to support key persons with leadership qualities, so that they can carry on the work independently. We co-operate with organizations in Poland, Lithuania, Ukraine, Belarus and Greece. Those are organizations that work with similar methods and are collected in a network, Active Rehabilitation International (ARI).

Rekryteringsgruppen aims to:

  • Organise camps based on the conditions in each country.
  • Educate camp leaders and show how to organize an association.
  • Share knowledge about basic care and rehabilitation of people with spinal cord injuries.
  • Distribute light-weight wheelchairs and other forms of aids to people with spinal cord injuries.
  • Support wheelchair companies in the countries by sharing knowledge.

Our work is mainly financed by subsidies from Forum Syd (www.forumsyd.org). Eight percent of the Rekryteringsgruppen membership fee to goes to the international work.

We need the support from anyone who wants to join us in our work. Both in Sweden and abroad. There are lots of things that need to be done. Everything from administrative planing, mechanical adjustment of wheelchairs to actual participation in camps and on courses. If you are interested in the international work or if you have any queries, please contact Matilda Bergquist.

We are grateful for donations. For economical contribution use postal giro 63 68 45-0 and write "The international work". To give aids, for example light-weight wheelchairs and sports material, please contact Rekryteringsgruppen.
